1/ How can Anise support my academic and study abroad goals?

We are a full-service program provider, so we manage all pertinent details around your core learning + study abroad goals. Our services include (but are not limited to) flights and accommodation, classroom space, cultural activities, company visits and local speakers, meals, emergency protocols and much more depending on your individual needs.

2/ Where is Anise based and operated?

Anise Learning, LLC is registered in Missouri, USA. Our founder, Rachel Martinez, lives in Abu Dhabi and will work with your virtually from program exploration to the pre-program phase. She will be in the UAE to welcome you personally and will be actively engaged during your stay.

3/ Why lead a study abroad program?

Leading a faculty-led program offers numerous benefits for faculty members, including enhanced professional development, strengthened student engagement, and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. It allows faculty to expand their teaching beyond traditional classrooms. Additionally, such roles can provide valuable research opportunities and increase institutional visibility, contributing to both personal fulfillment and broader institutional goals. Overall, leading a program can be a rewarding experience that fosters growth for both the faculty member and their students.

4/ How soon can Anise provide a proposal?

Once we have all relevant information from your side, we strive to provide a comprehensive proposal within 1-2 weeks.

4/ What is the lifecycle and duration for designing an Anise program?

Typically, a minimum of 4 months is expected to comfortably design your bespoke program, get approval and provide materials to begin marketing and recruiting students; however, this mainly depends on your institution and anticipated turnaround times. We will work actively to provide everything needed to streamline the approval process. Anise can work as far in advance as needed to ensure we meet all internal deadlines and kick-off the pre-program in alignment with your academic timeline.

5/ What program model(s) does Anise support?

We are a short-term (1-4 weeks), customized and faculty-led program provider. We model our program around your core curricular objectives, including supporting for-credit learning outcome objectives. We do not offer traditional study abroad exchanges or provide our own academic courses.

6/ Who can participate in an Anise program?

We cater to U.S. undergraduate and graduate level faculty and departments across all academic fields. If you believe your students would benefit from a UAE global immersion, we want to hear from you!

7/ What’s included in the Anise fee?

Our fee structure is adaptable; we consider your unique program needs, specifically working towards a per-student budget that works for you and your institution. Our basic program framework tends to encompass the following costs: accommodation, welcome dinner and orientation, transportation to/from all site visits and activities, entrance tickets for group activities, group meals (as discussed), and a farewell reception. Details and costs will be thoroughly reviewed and revised as needed.

Please note that participants will be directly responsible for booking international flights and health insurance. We are happy to support you with flight and insurance guidance.

8/ Does Anise require a minimum number of participants?

No, we do not require a minimum number of participants. However, we believe that having at least 10 participants contributes to a higher learning value for the group overall.

9/ Does Anise operate in other countries?

Our learning program focuses on the UAE. However, given our robust network we are open to exploring visits to nearby countries in the Gulf region (Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia). If you are interested in other countries outside of this list, we can refer you to a trusted program provider.

10/ Can Anise provide language courses?

We partner with local language academies to provide supplemental, intensive Arabic language courses. Students receive a certificate of completion.
